100- day 50

just a little sparkly glitter makeup eye today to celebrate new year and maybe also the fact that I'm half way through this 100 day project!! happy days!

100- day 49

did some more research on the internet for some eyes and found a Indian inspired makeup eye which had  traditional Indian bindi on it. (the dot on the forehead) so just thought I would create something based on that

made some more progress on the fina piece,  its getting somewhere now, added a lot more detail now especially on the facial hair. still a lot more work to put into it but spend about 5 hours today.

another little tattoo alongside the eye, this one is pretty small in scale, in comparison to my other eye doodles this has resulted a little smaller but I will try not to do this mistake again because it looks odd.

I did another closed eye doodle because I wanted to experiment with different angles, it was really hard to define the eye because it is closed but I always like a challenge.

BP final piece

made more progress on the final piece, although I like painting I'm get slightly bored because I have just finished one of my other final pieces but when I do get bored I call it a day and go back to it the next day. its good to have a break and look at it with fresh eyes because then I instantly notice the parts I need to improve.

today's doodle is just a quick one based on a photo I seen on the internet, it has tattoos inside the eye, I found this really interesting.

today's doodle is very festive of course due to Christmas I wanted to make something creative . I love the way this turned out it looks real but not real at the same time and IImnaged to get some detail as well

today I did a standard eye drawing from my mind and nothing from the internet because I am tired and I wanted to keep it simple.

so I was looking on the internet for some reference images for the eye doodles when I found another piercing photo, although I have already drawn an eye with a piercing i quite liked this image so I did another one. I like the way this turned out.

todays doodle is based on a reference from the internet of a African tribal eye makeup;  I wanted to try something different and this was an interesting image I found of the net so did a drawing; it took about 15 minutes to complete.

new day, another different angle I tired, this one was challenging because it was hard to portray the angle I wanted but I managed to do a decent job in the end, took about 20 mins.

more progress on my final piece,  its taking a long time because the oil paints take time to dry in order to put another layer on but I am still liking the outcome of these paints. need to do a lot more work on the mouth and teeth but I like the way this is turning out.

another doodle, the days are goimg fst and now its becomimg a habit of drawing these eyes everyday. added a little piercing to this one and the outcome is good.

just another doodle, isn't really inspired by any particular symbolic meaning but I did use a reference from the internet.  just wanted something simple after a long hectic day at college.  this doodle took me about 20 mins.

today's doodle is based and dedicated to the attack in Pakistan.  where over 131 children we killed in an army school,  a very saddening news so I wanted to make something in response.

design duel

today we did the final setting and task allocations,  we decided who was going to host which activity on the event. me and tom also organised the materials and booked the studio; we arranged the final prizes by negotiating with our degree leader Chris.

100- day 35

today i doodled the Eye of Horus, it is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. The eye is personified in the goddess Wadjet (also written as Wedjat, or "Udjat", Uadjet, Wedjoyet, Edjo or Uto). It is also known as ''The Eye of Ra''.

Gender painting

I did some progression on my final painting,  I started putting on the second layer and adding detail on the eyes. the eyes are my favourite part of the face so I'm enjoying it and working with oil paints is great. I think I need to make the darker tones a bit more dark.

doodle based on a Chinese/Japanese ladys eye, happy with the way this has turned out although it is not very creative.  oh well I will try to think of somethig more creative and interesting.

I tried a closed eye drawing today, it is harder than it looks, I spend too long on this doodle. it was a little difficult to get the definition and not to show the eye. nevertheless I'm happy with the outcome.

another doodle that I re-drawn from my old collection of eyes . its a tearful eye but I really like the outcome, also it allows me to see how much progress I have made.

Gender

I started on my final piece for my self proposed project, this was the first time I used oil paints and I must say my experience so far is great I really like the smooth feel and how it blends. I have only done the first layer today so I will work more on it tomorrow.  

Evidence

today I did some further experimental work with the photographs I took of my niece, I wanted to use the images and create layers, I really enjoyed working with different mediums like tracing paper and applying makeup of photos (inspired by Andy Warhol).

today's doodle was a dramatic eye makeup, I have been working with make-up for my other briefs so I liked to create something with that theme. I like the doodle although I have created something like this before my 100 project it is still different.

today's doodle was supposed to be creative but im too tired and alot of work stress from other projects so I did a quick standard one. it took me about 10 mins so im happy with the outcome.

controversial advertising

today I made my final safe advert for the controversial advertising breif,  I changed my idea suddenly today when I was looking through some of the existing coke adverts.  I found the bottle adverts very current so I decided to make something similar; influenced by this style. therefore I used the pause symbols that are bursting from the coke bottle relating to the slogan - the pause that refreshes. I like this advert because it is very simple and fits in with the new trendy adverts made by the company.

I have started my final piece for evidence brief yesterday,  I will be working from one of the photographs I took of my niece.  I have started adding some layers, alot more detail to add yet.

BP

I conducted some more experimental work based on the interview I did with Mark last studio session. he told me he likes coffee (which I already knew) so I decided to paint a portrait of Mark using just coffee, I did some experiments and on the last one I added some ink pen aswell just to make it abit more bold. I want to start my final piece in the next few days.

controversial advertising

I have been working on mock-ups and different layouts for the past week or so on my advertisements mainly focusing on the controversial one rather than the safe one. today I started working on the final one, although I have two final ads I wil be asking my tutor for some suggestions.

BP

did an interview with Mark last lesson which I completely forgot to write about. I asked him general questions about his likes and dislikes, in response to these I need to make some art work and then lead to my final piece.

another day done! today's doodle was another quick one, just practicing the normal eye drawings. tired aswell today so I did it quickly in about 10minutes.

todays doodle is another attempt at drawing a different angle, I like the way it turned out , it took about 15 minutes which is what I normally take for a doodle so im pleased about this one.

another quick doodle, didnt spend too long on this one because I'm tired. not too happy with it though because its not creative or anything new.

the doodle today was made using a reference from the internet, everyday I am trying different angles and also trying to be creative with the doodles. I tried a shocked eye today, I like the outcome.  :)

today's doodle is abit different,  like I mentioned yesterday I want to be more creative.  I added glasses to the eye to make it different to the rest, I liked the way it has turned out and the 3D aspect of it too.

tried to be creative with todays doodle and o succeeded to some extent but not a big fan of this one, only because I enjoy drawing the iris of the eye anyway and also maybe because it isnt as realistic. oh well its just an attempt at being a little creative.

banging headache today so didnt feel like a doodle but I like the way it turned out, just something simple. I must say im getting faster at these eye drawings but I want to be more creative with the angles and perspectives.

Tom Hackett (lecture)

Tom Hackett is a sculptor, throughout the lecture he spoke about his popular works, his influences and how he gets inspiration from ordinary things.  he says 'I see art as a verb not a noun'. he mentioned that he is interested in surrealism and likes to interact with the audience.  during the lecture he explained his interest in ordinary things and utilities, as well as showing his exhibitions such as the PM gallery in London in 2003. his most recent work is 'shaggy dog stories' where he is interacting with the audience because people are interested in his silicone yellow dog which he carries in a wheelbarrow.

I tried something different with today's eye doodle,  I added a spider,  just because i thought it would be fun. I like the outcome but it looks a little messy and confusing so might stick to the normal eye doodle from tomorrow.

Evidence

I found an online article on facebook about barbie,  so I clicked on the link ans found that an artist has created a 'normal barbie'. the doll is called Lammily and comes with a sticker pad that contains spots, acne, bruises and other normal things. the idea is to show kids that being normal is okay and not to aspire to become like the traditional barbie which is thin and 'perfect'. the source says that kids have openly accepted the normal barbie and treat it just as special as any other barbie doll. I found this article very interesting and relevant to my evidence project as it spurs on the subject of media manipulation.
