100- day 18

another eye doodle using pencil,  was another quick one but this one is more delicate so I like it even though some of the more darker ones be alot more glossy.

Gender

I finally started the experimental painting of Tom dressed as a transgender man.  this is just a development piece which I will allow me to practice painting before starting the final piece.  the painting was done in acrylic paints and took over 6 hours. I like the outcome as I went for the realistic approach.

I also did some more research on transgender poses with makeup and annotated my sketchbook. my next step is to decide what image I want to use for my final piece and start that.

100- day 17

another doodle to the collection,  not bored of this but im tired every day when I do these doodles, maybe I need a time in the day. but im not too happy about this one because I didnt spend too long on it, still alright though.

BP portrait

today I started making more experimental work on the BP project. I used images of Mark from social networking sites and made studies in fine liner and watercolours,  I just tried different ways to use the fine liner techniques and looked at coffee stains because Mark loves drinking coffee. I also used hair dryer to make a splashing affect, another experiment was with ink and water. really liked the fine liner using watercolour and hairdryer pieces, they are very illustrative.

100- day 16

another doodle, another angle. had a busy had doing alot of practical work in the studio today so really tired, but I like this one. 

controversial advertising

after planning some ideas and conducting research on brands and I started trying out some mock-ups. I have chosen domestos for my controversial advert which I have tried some layout ideas and composition designs.  for the safe advertisement I have selected coca cola which I need to complete further research on. I think I will be able to complete the adverts by next week. and then do an evaluation.

100- day 15

today doodle was done really quick, im really tired but I wanted to draw an eye with fake eyelashes,  just something different to try out. came out better than I thought really.

Gender

more research on celeb/famous transgender people. I thought it would be good to show some examples in my sketchbook of the transformation.  I also contacted Nadim Chaudary,  who is an textile artist. he a gay Muslim so I thought it would be great to get some information from him, I emailed him about a meeting for an interview,  but due to his busy schedule I have to speak to him via email, this is also great for my primary research. I am currently waiting for his reply to my questions regarding work influenced/based on gender.

100- day 14

today's doodle, im enjoying the different angles I can draw, im so not bored of this project.  I always do the doodles at night when im relaxed and ready for bed; they still turn out good even though I be tired.

100- day 13

todays doodle took longer than I thought it would, dont know if the effort is visible through the drawing but I think its a good one. enjoying this project,  like how every eye is different and I can experiment with angles and shapes of eyes.

100- day 12

today im tired again but I guess doodling eyes is somewhat therapeutic to me, because I really enjoyed trying a different angle today. It was made up from my mind with a little reference from an old doodle!

100- day 11

I really liked the doodle today, it was a quick one but I feel alot more fresh so I enjoyed it. looks glossy and the detail has come out good too. finally I like the angle!

okay so today im so tired, I literally did not want to do this 100 project, but I managed to gather courage and do a quick doodle for the sake of it. not really impressed with this one but it'll do fine!

really quick one today, just went along with this one because im too tired so I to didn't have any particular image/idea in my mind. still came out good though. happy days so far! !

Design Duel

in the afternoon session today we held another meeting for the Design Duel project, we discussed the activities and finalised them. we also sorted out the time scales for each activity and then started to allocate taks to group members. we booked the studio that we are going to host the event at and also started on the production of things.

visual communication

today I did some brainstorming for the visual communication project. where I have to create a controversial and safe advertisement for a brand or service. with the help of Lance I worked on some ideas.
coca-cola- the pause that refreshes, I think I could use this brand and slogan for a graffiti artist, whilst spray painting he can be drinking coke and this way I can make this ad controversial as it shows/promotes/evokes graffiti which ofcourse is seen as vandalism and frowned upon. for the safe advert I want to use the same brand but present the same artist working on a canvas this will promote the stereotypically good art and the product.

my second idea is to use a cleaning product use as Demostos- kills germs dead! I can use this brand and slogan to create a crime scene which visually shows a knife with blood, the advert would evoke murder/crime making it controversial. 

my third idea is about tattooed doctors and the entire issue raised in the news recently.  so I would present a poster with a tattooed doctor and a normal looking tutor, and at the bottom the text would read 'who do you trust your child with?' I would have to get statistics on these types of people and job roles. and the tutor would say 'child abuser' vs the tattooed doctors text would read '100% operation success rate' for example.

these are my rough Ideas for this project and I will need more research in order to finally decide which brand/issue I want to focus on.

tried a old wrinkled eye doodle today, was another quick one. didnt get much detail because im so tired but still came out good!

really tired today whilst doing this doodle, took me about 10 mins; still not bored of this project though which is a good thing!

today im very tired so I did a quick doodle, I made this one up and added alot of makeup on the eye.

day 2 of the 100 days project, doodled another eye, without reference from the internet this one is totally made up. I really like drawing eyes so enjoying these doodles so far!

Evidence - experimental portraits

today I did some more experimental portraits, but this time using my nieces photo, the image I want to use for my final piece or atleast the person. I used biro pen for the first drawing, I think this turned out great, the sharpness of the drawing was good and I managed to get some great tones. the second one was created by thick white marker and paint, I used my finger to blend some areas, I liked this experiment but not as much as the first one because it wasnt as sharp and detailed. finally I did a experiment using oil pastels, this one was my least favourite because it was too loose and I couldnt manage to get detail. all three experiments were done on the same surface.
I want to continue experimenting with different mediums but more paint related because thats what I want to achieve from my final outcome.

100- Day 1

day 1 for my 100 project,  i will be doodling eyes for 100 days. using pencil as my medium I will try to make creative eye doodles daily. today I made up this eye doodle inspired by an eye I seen on the internet :)!

Design Duel

today was our first meeting for the Design Duel project. in the morning I did some research on controversial advertising, briefly looked at some examples.
im the afternoon we held our first meeting, in which we discussed the activities we want for the event:
fine art- opposite hand drawing of team member
textiles- catwalk (self designed t - shirt)
graphic design- logo for team
photography- situations/brand-celeb
3D- flying paper
film- vine

we designated some tasks:
arrange all equipment and essentials such as: sweets, pens, pencils, paper, markers etc - Tom.B and Sidra (myself)
graphic design students: posters & presentation
health & safety: Luke
music: Tom.H
computer: Josh
photography/video: Tom.B

we decided roughly we need 7-10 people in each team and there will be a points system to decide winners

we all have put in a £5 each to get all thr equipment needed which I will be handling. 

Evidence Photography

over the half term holidays I didnt manage to get much practical work done however I did take some photographs for my evidence project. firstly I asked my niece 'what dont you like about your body?' she replied with 'my cheeks, they are too fat' I was shocked about this, my niece is 8 and she is already thinking about what she eats and her weight. this idea of media manipulation and the negative affect on little girls is shocking.

influenced by Richard Johnson, a photographer I researched at the start of the project for verbal abuse is still relevant. I used the similar style of writing text onto the body/face. using paint and makeup I wrote fat on my nieces cheek and took photographs. I also made bruises on her face to show the mental damage.   I really liked the outcome and I want to go forward with this idea of text on the face.
